Ingredients:
β’ A pack of frozen squid β’ Flour β’ Bread crumbs β’ 2 eggs β’ A bottle of sweet and spicy sauce β’ 2 red bell peppers or one red and one yellow bell pepper β’ 1 grapefruit or orange β’ Salt β’ Oil
Preparation:
- If youβre using frozen squid, make sure to thaw it first. Ideally, choose larger and thicker pieces. The ones used here were quite thin, which made them challenging to fry individually.
- Set up three bowls: In the first, whisk the eggs. In the second, place the flour. In the third, combine equal parts of flour and bread crumbs. Estimate around 60g for each mix.
- Roll the squid pieces in the flour, dip them into the whisked eggs, and then coat them with the flour and breadcrumb mixture.
- Heat oil in a pan. Fry the squid until they turn golden brown.
- Once done frying, remove the excess oil. Add the chopped bell peppers to the pan and season with salt. Cook for a few minutes until they soften.
- Pour in the sweet and spicy sauce and add the fried squid. Mix well, season again if needed, and incorporate the grapefruit or orange slices.
- Stir everything together to ensure the squid is well-coated with the sauce. Serve and enjoy!
